Fertility awareness used in the form of Natural Family Planning (NFP) involves learning about a woman's fertility cycle and the signs a woman's body gives of the natural changes that occur throughout her cycle. Couples can then use this information to either achieve or avoid pregnancy and to monitor gynecological health. Women can use this information to monitor gynecological health & deal with any underlying issues. Men and women of all ages can receive instruction and formation in the methods available. NFP supports God's design for married love and the gift of life and is aligned with Catholic teaching as expressed in the papal encyclical, Humanae vitae, written by Pope St. Paul VI in 1968.

To see the methods available in the Diocese of Salina, please visit the website for the Office of Natural Family Planning or the Diocese of Salina FertilityCare Services Center.

If you are interested in exploring NFP at your own pace for marriage enrichment or preparation, a well known organization called the Couple to Couple League offers an online course called Natural Plan that explores the various methods of NFP available and assists couples in deciding which method may work the best for their marriage.
