Stewardship is fundamentally the work of the Spirit in our lives. When we accept our lives as sheer gifts, the Spirit can use us as apt instruments for spreading the Gospel. Wherever the Spirit works, there is joy. Good stewards are always the joyful bearers of the Good News of Salvation. -Pastoral Letter from USCCB, Stewardship: A Disciples Response
We invite all parishioners to share their time, talents, and treasure with their faith-community in order to build up the Body of Christ. Please consider the ways in which you or your family can be stewards of the gifts God has given you.
Thank you for your generosity in sacrificing your Time, Talent, & Treasure! It is greatly appreciated!
Time & Talent
Time and Talent are important aspects of Stewardship. We often focus on Stewardship during Lent each year, however, there is never a bad time to get involved! Please fill out the Stewardship Form below to find groups or ministries that you or your family may share your gifts with. We also encourage you to consider other ways in which your family may spend time in prayer, performing acts of kindness and mercy, and serving your community.
Participating in a Liturgical Ministry at Mass is a special way to serve your parish and give of your Time & Talent. Our parish provides many Masses & ministries thanks to our Liturgical Ministers. You may find more information about these ministries on the Liturgical Ministries page. You may indicate interest in a Liturgical Ministry by filling out the Stewardship Form below.

Gifts that Pay You Income
Life-income gifts, such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts, can provide donors with a lifetime income stream and the satisfaction of supplying your parish with vital, long-term resources.

Gifts by Will
Bequests may secure a charitable estate tax deduction for the value of the gift. Best of all, the donor will know that their generosity will help support their parish for years to come.
A couple of simple ideas...
- Consider your parish as "one of your children":
- For example, if there are four children in your family, then specify in the Will that upon your death the estate be divided into five equal parts, one for each child and one for your parish.
- Consider an "Estate Tithe" to your parish:
- For example, instruct in the Will that after estate expenses are taken care of, your parish is to receive 10% of what is left over, dividing the other 90% between surviving family and other persons, causes, or institutions as desired.

Gifts from Retirement Accounts
Your parish can be named as either a full or partial beneficiary of one's IRA (Individual Retirement Account), 401(k), or other retirement fund. Simply complete a beneficiary designation form (available from your plan manager) and submit it to the retirement plan trustee, manager, or custodian. Many beneficiary designation forms require the tax identification number of your parish. This is available by contacting the parish office (785-776-5151).
Retirement plans may be subject to estate taxes and the distributions from traditional IRAs may be fully taxable when received by an individual beneficiary. By naming your parish as the beneficiary of the retirement account, the parish receives the full amount free of taxes and might create an estate tax deduction for the donor. This method can be used to leave other assets, such as stock, to heirs resulting in a more beneficial tax effect.
Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) are amounts that legally must be withdrawn from most retirement accounts once a certain age has been reached in order to avoid penalties. This can be a great way to donate to your parish.

What is a Planned Gift or an Estate Gift?
Generally speaking, a "planned gift" or an "estate gift" is a gift to charity that takes effect upon the donor's death. It is simply your last act of stewardship when it takes effect. Often, a planned gift can represent a family's most impactful act of stewardship and can leave a positive legacy that lives on well after they are gone. A planned gift can provide extraordinary opportunities and resources to help your parish carry out its mission more effectively than ordinary resources and revenues could sustain.
Through planning with knowledgeable advisors (financial planners, tax accountants, and/or attorneys) may allow one to achieve philanthropic and estate planning goals without adversely impacting financial well-being.
